What: Over 10 years in the making, this photographic exhibit documents the violent world of boxing gyms in our country's most destitute neighborhoods and the troubled individuals who survive them. Part of the Painted Bride's Independence Foundation Gallery for the Visual Arts, there will be two receptions on November 7th and December 5th from 5-7pm.

My Brightest Diamond

What: Shara Worden, the leader and spearhead of My Brightest Diamond, has released another album titled "A Thousand Shark's Teeth." It is released and supported by Sufjan Stevens and has steadily evolved over a period of six years. Using an array of instrumentation from harps, french horns, and rabid guitars Worden has created an explosion of musical compositions to go along with her strong vocal range. Joined by Clare & the Reasons (singer Muldaur Manchon and pop quintet, The Reasons).

Ron Horton Sextet

What: Stalwart New York jazz trumpeter Ron Horton attempts to recreate a great lost jazz album: Andrew Hill's "Passing Ships". Recorded in 1969, and finally released to great acclaim in 2003, "Passing Ships" will be reinterpreted from Horton, a former member of the New York Jazz Composers Collective. This sextet features Tony Malaby on tenor sax, Scott Robinson on baritone sax, Ben Allison on double-bass, Frank Kimbrough on piano, and Tim Horner on drums.
