No, we didn't post blurry pixelated images, they're supposed to be this way. Designers Mike and Maaike have developed a very distinguishable jewelry line based off bitmap images. Mike and Maaike are continuously experimenting with design, generating ideas and unexpected solutions for products, furniture and environment.
These pixelated images are surfacing on everything from jewelry to furniture. The concept originated as "an exploration of tangible vs. virtual in relation to real and perceived value" after browsing through some of the most exquisite and often famous gems around the world. Via GoogleImage Search, the designers 'stole' these low-res images, doctored, then printed them on scored leather, creating a tangible new incarnation.
The expense and intricacy of the jewels were stripped away while the visual intensity and overall fundamental qualities are also extracted. The pixelated images of the stolen gems were purposely stretched out to allegedly resemble the real thing from far distance. Pieces include the Hope Diamond Broach, the Golden Jubilee Diamond Broach, the Great Chrysanthemum Necklace, and Imelda Marcos’ Ruby Necklace with Diamonds by Van Cleef Arpels. The product definitely scores points for its distinctive appeal and dope concept.
